You and Me on a Comeback

The founder is Jed Morris    who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocitic Leukemia (ALL) while playing professional baseball with the AA affiliate (Midland Rockhounds) of the Oakland Athletics organization.  Through an immense amount of support Jed got back to his passion of playing baseball after six chemo therapy cycles.  He became a free agent after the 2008 baseball season, and is currently playing for the Lancaster Barnstormers in the Atlantic League.  Jed is looking to have success with the Barnstormers as well as begin something that himself and others can be passionate about.

The name "You And Me On A Comeback" has double meaning.  The correlation coming from baseball is the play where the pitcher and the catcher point at each other with their pinkie and thumb extended in opposite directions to indicate that they will be working together with the situation of bases loaded and less than two outs.  This is the biggest jam that a team can be in so the pitcher and catcher acknowledge they will be working together on a 'come-backer' to the pitcher in hopes of turning a double play from the pitcher to the catcher to the first baseman.  This organization will also be attempting to get an individual out of their biggest jam (and maybe the support team and the patient can all give each other the hand gesture used by the pitcher and catcher to indicate that they will all be working on a comeback.)

To further the reasoning behind the idea. Jed Morris was in a fortunate situation being with a baseball organization that provided good insurance coverage as well as giving a postponement of his career opportunity so he could rejoin one of the minor league teams if and when his health was restored. Basically, Jed feels fortunate and would love to somehow extend the good fortune to others who may not be in such a lucky situation. Jed saw the importance of the financial resources bestowed upon him as well as a free place to workout and regain his strength. He also was able to learn about healthy eating while recouping at his parents home, therefore these are a few of the ever changing and evolving things that he would hope to extend through "You And Me On A Comeback" so that other cancer patients who were ripped out of their normal lives and taken away from their occupations can breath a sigh of relief while gaining their strength back.
